Growing a community for nature recovery

Wild East, the charity behind the Map of Dreams nature recovery platform, needed more than the occasional social post – it needed a long-term content partner who could build a genuine following and turn it into a community. Over an 18-month partnership, Zero Above took on content creation and social media management across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, and launched a brand new podcast, Wild Kingdom and the Map of Dreams. Within four months, Wild East’s following had doubled, and it kept growing for the rest of the partnership.

The Challenge

Wild East champions rewilding and environmental restoration across the East of England, with Lord Somerleyton at the helm and as the public face of the brand. It had a powerful story to tell, but like many charities, it had limited internal capacity to produce content at the pace and quality needed to grow an audience across several platforms.

The opportunity was clear. With sustained, well-produced content, a consistent presence on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and a flagship format that went beyond short-form posts, Wild East could reach a much wider audience and turn passive followers into an engaged, growing community. What it needed was a partner willing to commit for the long haul – not a short campaign burst, but steady work that would build momentum over time.

The Solution

Zero Above took ownership of Wild East’s content and social media across all three platforms, giving the brand a stronger, more consistent voice. Regular output included reels following Hugh’s Pennine Way journey, content supporting the WeLove sticker scheme and tributes celebrating the legacies of King Charles and Sir David Attenborough for nature. Alongside the day-to-day posting, we led campaigns designed to grow reach and deepen engagement.

The centrepiece of the partnership was Wild Kingdom and the Map of Dreams, a podcast we produced from the ground up. With more than 25 episodes created and the first series going live in March 2026, the podcast gave Wild East a flagship format to build a deeper, more loyal relationship with its audience alongside its social channels.

The Conclusion

Instagram following up 100% in the first four months.

Wild East’s following doubled in the first four months alone – and that growth didn’t plateau. It continued to build steadily across all three platforms for the full 18 months. Just as importantly, the partnership grew beyond the content itself. We built a strong working relationship with the charity, which opened the door to further local work together.
